Is Lost Ark Open World?
It’s not. Lost Ark is not an open-world gaming experience in the exact manner as, for instance, Elden Ring or Horizon Forbidden West.
It is played from an isometric viewpoint. It’s a 2.5D ARPG that is divided into various levels and is, in fact, quite linear by design.
Compared with other games using the same perspective like Diablo III, Lost Ark’s levels are more minor and more “on-rails.”
Every area is basically like a path that you follow by exploring tiny regions from each other, fighting against enemies, looting, and interacting with NPCs to advance the story.
There’s not much about returning to the beginning or even traversing one huge area. It’s not what you’d describe as a sandbox.
However, an open world doesn’t necessarily mean it’s terrible. The linearity of the game instead concentrates on engaging combat and RPG-related mechanics.
The levels of Lost Ark are beautifully designed, varied in appearance, and often include verticality and other features that provide the player with the feeling of size that may be lacking in terms of raw dimension.
