J-K: Encounter underway between militants and security forces in Sopore

On Sunday, a meeting broke out between militants and security forces in the Sopore area of ​​the Jammu-Kashmir district in Baramulla. According to the police, the encounter began in the Rebbaan area of ​​Sopore.

Last week, three members of a family, all linked to the BJP, were killed in a militant attack on Wednesday night in the North Kashmir Bandipore, which led to the arrest of all their security details. The attack occurred just outside the Bandipore police station when the three were in the family store, they fled their home.

Among the dead were a member of the BJP state executive committee, Sheikh Waseem Bari, 27, and his father, Sheikh Bashir Ahmad and his brother Sheikh Umar, who were also party officials.

Police then said that the Lashkar-e-Taiba was behind the attack. Speaking to journalists in Bandipore, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir, Vijay Kumar said they had identified the two militants involved in the attack. “One of them is Abid (a local militant) and the other is a foreigner,” he said.

In another encounter, A militant and an army soldier were killed while two members of security forces personnel were wounded in a shooting in Pulwama, in southern Kashmir, last week.
