EXPECTATIONS
Filmmaker Luv Ranjan has a certain style when it comes to creating a soundtrack for his films. Its Pyaar Ka Punchnama series as well as Sonu ke titu ki sweety, in particular, they have boasted of youthful and joyous music. Now that your production Jai Mummy Di is being released, one expects something similar from over half a dozen songs to appear on the soundtrack.
MUSIC
As is the trend, Jai Mummy Di It also begins with a couple of recreated songs. First, to arrive is Sukh-E Muzical Doctorz compound, and Jaani written ‘Nu Pasand Mummy’ which has been recreated by Tanishk Bagchi, who is also the man behind additional lyrics. Sunanda Sharma is the singer here and boasts of having a distinctive voice that is surprisingly different from many of her kind and therefore makes a pretty solid impression. The song has a catchy hook and is a hit. Even if you haven’t heard this song before, you would like it this time.
The next to arrive in the track chartbuster “Lamborghini” It has a beautiful sound and has the perfect combination of Punjabi mix and ‘desi’ feel with a slightly western touch that gives it a head start. Written by Kumaar, this celebratory song features an animated Meet Bros performance that uses the voices of Neha Kakkar and Jassie Gill well enough to result in a number that would find a place among young and old alike.
However, the surprise is ‘Dariyaganj’ which represents Arijit Singh. It is always very refreshing to hear a new team collaborate to create something melodious and this is where one would complement lyricist Siddhant Kaushal and composer Amartya Bobo Rahut. They put together an unconventional hook for the song title while making sure the melody element remains intact. Arijit takes care of the break, who along with Dhvani Bhanushali makes sure this romantic number is on your playlist. Later, Dhvani goes alone to make a bigger impact.
With a hat-trick of good songs, expectations rise even higher Jai Mummy Di. Mika Singh is the man of the moment as his boisterous voice sets in motion the procedures for ‘Ishq Da Band’. The way the singing team (with Shilpa Surroch and Harjot K Dhillon as the other singers)
Joining for this compound Gaurav Chatterji and Ginny Diwan’s written issue, you get the feel of one of those ’90s David Dhawan movies where’ Masti ‘and’ dhamaal ‘ruled over many Govinda or Salman Khan protagonists. This is fun while it lasts.
Another new team joins forces for the title track. ‘Jai Mummy Di’. Composer Parag Chhabra and lyricist Shellee team up for this issue number. While there is nothing really memorable about this song sung by Nikhita Gandhi, Parag Chhabra, Vivek Hariharan, and Devender Pal Singh, we hope that it will make it to certain montage sequences in the film to entertain the narrative.
Although Amartya Bobo Rahut and Siddhant Kaushal had done quite well in ‘Dariyaganj’the same cannot be said ‘Manney ignores Kar Rahi’ which is presented as an interference session at best. He agreed that this translated issue of Amitabh Bhattacharya is meant to be fun and has a parody flavor, the end result is of the kind that can possibly only be enjoyed if accompanied by some really entertaining images.
The last to arrive is ‘Ajaa Ajaa’ it has a rock-n-roll feel ’50s style and is another situational track. In fact, one wonders in which situation in the film this sung number of Divya Kumar will appear over time, as it appears as a force adjustment. Composed by Rishi Singh and Siddharth Amit Bhavsar (who also lend additional lyrics), this one is written by Gautam G. Sharma and Gurpreet Saini, who fail to find anything memorable.
USUALLY
The music of Jai Mummy Di It starts well with a couple of recreated songs and then a couple of original songs that leave their mark. However, the impact decreases a bit as you go. However, he still manages to deliver on what he promised with at least 2-3 songs that are expected to play longer at least.
