The Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terror group member was murdered, and a Jammu and
Kashmir Police (SOG) member was killed in a tense confrontation with terrorists and
security officers in the Pariwan village in the Kulgam district in South Kashmir on
Wednesday (January 12).
The name of Rohit Kumar confirms the dead JKP person. Three soldiers of the army and
two civilians were also injured during the firing.
A police officer in charge of the operation told reporters that following specific knowledge of
the presence of terrorists in the village, a team consisting of both the Police army and CRPF
established a cordon and search operation.
The joint search team of forces surrounded the suspected area; terrorists in the area fired
on the troops, which was then in response, and a gunfight ensued.
The officer from the police department who confirmed the firefight confirmed that there are
two to three terrorists in the cordon; however, the exact number will be revealed only when
the operation is completed.
The zone of operation is secured from the sides. All lights are in place, the entry and exit
points are sealed to ensure that terrorists don’t have the chance to escape by taking
advantage of the darkness.
This is the eighth encounter of January. In earlier meetings, security forces were able to kill
13 terrorists. Six were Pakistani citizens and have found massive arms and ammunition.
This includes two M4 rifles made in America and two AK 56 and 3AK 47 rifles.
