Shopian witnesses second encounter

Police and terrorists fought at the Haripora village of the Imam Sahib area in South Kashmir’s Shopian district.

There was a specific report that there were terrorists in the area, so a joint team from the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Indian Army and the CRPF started a cordon and searched the area.

He said that while the joint search team was looking for terrorists, they were fired at by people hiding in the area. This led to the fight. People say that one to two terrorists are hiding out in the area based on what they’ve heard.

There was a second meeting today. Two terrorists in the Awantipora area of south Kashmir were killed by security forces this morning.

Police say security forces have killed 44 terrorists since January in 32 fights and short shootouts, and they say that this year, that’s how many have been killed.

In addition, 26 active terrorists and more than 160 terrorist associates were arrested, and 18 young people joined terror groups this year.
