Police identified the arrested man as 21-year-old Reyaz Ahmed; he was arrested on Friday. According to the police, during questioning in the presence of an executive magistrate, Reyaz revealed that he had hidden the weapons and ammunition in a hideout between Makhidhar and the Upper Shikari mountain range of Mahore tehsil.

Subsequently, a search operation was launched by the Police and the Army and two barrel grenade launchers (UBGL) and mortar grenade launchers (MGL), five grenades, an RPG, three mortar bombs, 80 INSAS cartridges, sniper rifles. and AK, in addition to explosive material, were recovered, police said. Reasi Police Superintendent Surjeet Bhagat said the seizure also included an AK-47 rifle with 22 magazines and 150 cartridges, a rocket launcher, 16 UBGL grenades, four hand grenades and two very high frequency (VHF) radio sets. ) with antennas.

The hideout was to be given to a person from Gool, in the adjoining Ramban district, Bhagat said. It was part of the shipment sent by the ‘commander’ of LeT Khobaib, a Doda resident currently based in Pakistan, the SP added.

On February 18, police and security forces seized an AK 47 rifle along with a sealed box of ammunition, a self-loading rifle (SLR), a .303 bolt rifle and two Chinese pistols along with magazines and ammunition from the Makhidhar forests. These were also sent by Khobaib, according to the police.
