Kohli Rages Into Stump Mic after Elgar DRS Controversy

Virat Kohli, on Thursday, unleashed his fury on the microphone of the stump, speaking about his anger over a DRS decision on the third day of the final and third Test in Newlands, Cape Town.

In the 21st ball in the South African second innings, Dean Elgar was given out LBW by the umpire on the field; however, the Proteas captain could review the decision.

The replays revealed that the ball struck Elgar at the knee; however, a hawk-eye confirmed that it was through the stumps. The decision angered the Indian players, Captain Virat Kohli, especially.

The Indian skipper walked up to the microphone on the stump and let it go.

The other Indian players, such as KL Rahul and Ravichandran Ashwin, also expressed their displeasure.

“Focus on your team as well when they shine the ball.. and not just the opposition, trying to catch people all the time.”

“Whole country playing against XI guys,” KL Rahul was heard saying.

Ravichandran Ashwin didn’t hold back, neither did he hesitate to take a dig on the broadcaster who hosted.

As the emotions were raging in the Indian team, Dean Elgar and Keegan Petersen profited from the situation.

They scored fast in the following six innings to cut the deficit even more.

India, however, hit on the stumps during Day 3 with Jasprit Bumrah taking out Elgar. In the final day’s action, South Africa was 101 for two and needed an additional 111 runs to prevail.

The series is currently tied at 1-1, and both teams are looking for a victory. A win in the third Test could give India their first Test victory on South Africa soil.
