Maharashtra announces eight new Omicron cases: the total rises to 48. 

New Delhi: Maharashtra on Friday announced eight cases of the Omicron variant of coronavirus. 

Eight patients, six from Pune, and the two reside in Mumbai and Thane and Thane, respectively. They are all vaccined against COVID-19.

Patients have lengthy travel records. Four have been to Dubai, and one came to America. One came from the US, and one came from Nigeria.

On the other hand, two of the infected patients are closest relatives of the Dubai returning patients who were positive in the beginning week of December.

Seven of the eight new patients have symptoms. One patient has shown symptoms that are not severe, and two patients are in hospital, despite attempts to monitor the contacts of everyone affected.

The intensive surveillance of passengers who arrive on the international terminals of Mumbai, Pune, and Nagpur The surveillance is in progress from December 1.

In the meantime, the state of Kerala on Friday announced two new Omicron cases. As a result, the Omicron total in Kerala is now at seven.

The latest coronavirus variant was discovered in an old couple who came to Kochi from the UAE.

In the past 24 hours, ten instances of the Omicron variant were discovered in Delhi. 

They brought the total reported of it in Delhi to 20.

In total, 10 individuals among the 20 have been discharged.
