Maharashtra: Congress Nagpur City and District Chiefs Resign

The Maharashtra Congress’ Nagpur city unit chairman and rural district president have resigned by the party’s resolve.

On Thursday, the state Congress approved a resolution requiring the party’s city and district heads who had served for five years to present their resignation.

Vikas Thakre, the city chairman of the Congress, and Rajendra Mulak, the rural district president, resigned recently.

On Friday, Mr. Mulak, a former state minister, said that the party’s district presidents in Maharashtra, who have served for more than five years, had given their resignations, and a similar procedure is taking place throughout the country.

The resolution, drafted by a committee chaired by senior politician Ashok Chavan, was approved during the state Congress’s nav-Sankalp shibir at Shirdi, Ahmednagar district.
