Mamata Banerjee discharged, two days after ‘attack’ in Nandigram
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was released from the hospital at 7pm on Friday, where she was admitted after suffering during a campaign in Nandigram. Banerjee said was attacked by a group of “four or five people, who pushed her ”out of a temple where she had stopped to offer prayers on Wednesday. She interrupted her visit and returned to Kolkata, where she was admitted to the SSKM Hospital.
The chief minister left the hospital in a wheelchair, greeted her supporters and headed straight for her Kalighat home in the city.

Minister of State Firhad Hakim and CM’s nephew and TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee were present while she was being discharged. Doctors said the swelling in her leg has decreased and she feels less pain.
“She has been discharged at your request with some medical advice. The temporary cast has been removed. She is stable. You have been asked to come in for a review in seven days. He has been advised to follow some restrictions, ”said SSKM Director Manimoy Bandyopadhyay.
Banerjee was admitted with injuries to her left ankle and pain in her chest and shoulders after “four or five men” allegedly closed the door of the car at the foot of the bed to greet people. The incident occurred hours after he submitted his nomination for the Nandigram seat on Wednesday.
Appealing to the workers and supporters of her party to keep the peace, the chief minister, in a video message, said she would go back to work possibly in two or three days.
“I hope I can go back to my daily schedule after 2 or 3 days. But due to the condition of my leg, there would be a problem but I will fix it. I will not cancel any of my meetings … I may have to travel in a wheelchair to do so, ”he said in a video message posted on Facebook.
Elections in West Bengal begin on March 27.
