Mamata files election petition against Suvendu in Calcutta HC.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee filed an electoral petition against Suvendu Adhikari with the Calcutta High Court and the matter is on the list of hearings before a single court on Friday.
According to the ‘list of cases’ published by the high court on its website on Thursday, the matter is scheduled to be dealt with by videoconference before the Kausik Chanda court of law as “to be mentioned”.
The Electoral Commission had declared Adhikari the winner and the Trinamool Congress the finalist in the close elections for the Nandigram constituency.
Alleging tampering with EVM machines and rejection of the recount demands by the EC official in question, Banerjee had said after the statement of the results that the court’s doors will be slammed on the matter.
BJP MLA Adhikari is currently the opposition leader in the West Bengal assembly.

She is a freelance blogger, writer, and speaker, and writes for various entertainment magazines.
