Man Arrested For Rs 4 Million Heroin Seizure At Mumbai Cargo Complex.
Bombay, India: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested a Gujarati man on Thursday in connection with the seizure of 700 grams of heroin valued at Rs 4 crore from the cargo complex near Mumbai airport, an official said.
The area unit of the Office of Narcotics Control had received specific information about the smuggling of drugs in a package at the International Courier Terminal in the Mumbai suburbs, he said.
Consequently, a search was carried out on Monday in a conference room in the complex, where officials from the Office of Narcotics Control found 700 grams of white powder in a package, allegedly heroin whose value is estimated at around 4 crores on the illicit market. the official said.
A case was registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) and the recipient of the package, Krishna Murari Prasad, a resident of Vadodara, was summoned to register his statement at the office of the Bureau of Narcotics Control in Mumbai on Thursday, he said.
After questioning, Prasad was arrested, the official said, adding that further investigations were underway.
