Man dies after fire tore through Bronx apartment.
A 66-year-old man died after flames ripped through a Bronx apartment Wednesday afternoon, according to the NYPD.
Police said officers responded shortly after 1:30 p.m. to a 911 call for a residential fire at the Butler Houses NYCHA complex on Webster Avenue in the Claremont Village neighborhood.
Video from the Citizen app showed flames coming out of an apartment window.
After FDNY firefighters extinguished the flames, they discovered the injured victim inside an apartment, authorities said.
Emergency medical services took the man to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, police said. The identity of the victim was not immediately released.
No other injuries were reported and the cause of the fire was under investigation, according to the NYPD.
