Mangaluru Police arrested the father of a minor accused of murdering friend after spat over a video game

Mangaluru city police confirmed Tuesday the arrest of a 45-year-old man, the father of a minor who allegedly killed his teenage friend after a fight over a video game on Sunday.

Deputy Police Commissioner (Law & Order) Hariram Shankar told Indianexpress.com that Santhosh, a truck driver, was arrested by Ullal police on charges of complicity to help.

“Santhosh was informed of the incident that took place on Saturday night just as his 17-year-old son was returning home with blood stained clothes. However, the man asked his son to hide the shirt in a corner of a closet in the house. She also asked her son not to tell anyone about the incident, ”Shankar explained.

Police had found the body of a twelve-year-old boy in a school 500 meters from his home on Sunday morning.

The city’s police commissioner, N Shashikumar, said at the time that the boy had died after a discussion about online gambling led to them hitting each other with stones. “It seems that the defendant, in a moment of fury, struck the victim in the face with a stone. We believe that when he collapsed and began to bleed profusely, the defendant dragged him to a corner of the ground and fled, ”Shashikumar said.

The 17-year-old, the main defendant in the case, was presented this Monday before the Juvenile Justice Board, after which he was detained for 14 days. A case was filed on Sunday following a complaint filed by the victim’s father, who also works as a truck driver.

When asked if the father of the victim and the father of the accused knew each other, DCP Shankar said: “We don’t believe it. The guys had met in a mobile store about three months ago, after which they started playing PUBG with each other. ”
