There are still a lot of drugs in the state, so the next thing would be to get rid of them. The third thing would be to make sure that all the people fighting in the state are brought to the table and that political talks are held with them, he said.
On April 1, 2022, the Union Home Ministry made the entire state of Manipur a “Disturbed Area” for six months, excluding the areas under the jurisdiction of 15 police stations. This was done following Section 3 of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958. (Act No.28 of 1958).
According to the order, AFSPA has been removed from Imphal, Lamphel and City, Singjamei, Sekmai, Lamsang and Patsoi police stations in Manipur. It has also been removed from Irilbun, Thoubal and Bishnupur, Kakchin, and Jiribam police stations.
The Disturbed Area Declaration has been in place in all of Manipur, except for the Imphal Municipality area, since 2004.
With 32 seats in the 60-member House, the BJP won an absolute majority and kept power in Manipur. Secretary Singh, along with other cabinet ministers from the BJP and the NPF, took the oath from Governor La Ganesan. All of them took the oath together, but NPF member Awngbow Newmai was the only one who did not take the oath alone.
The Congress won five seats, and the NPP won seven seats, so they both won. They got three seats for their party. Five seats went to the Naga People’s Front, and two went to the Kuki People’s Union.
This is how the state’s previous government was put together: The BJP helped form the previous government with help from the NPF and the National People’s Party. Biren Singh was the state’s, Chief Minister.
