Partha Chatterjee, a former minister and ousted leader of the Trinamool Congress, was arrested in connection with an alleged teacher recruitment fraud. Trinamool Congress MP Saugata Roy said that Chatterjee “embarrassed and dishonoured” the party.

“I’m not sure whether Partha is a victim of a plot. Partha Chatterjee, the former WB Minister, has made us seem bad and dishonored our party. We took action against him, dropped his ministerial responsibilities, and took all party posts; now, we demand a thorough investigation and proper punishment for him and his cronies, “Mr Roy said to ANI.

Notably, the TMC severed ties with Partha when cash totalling 21 crore rupees was found at the home of his close friend Arpita Mukherjee.

The TMC MP said that the party was unaware of such an incident.

“It is shameful what took place. I’m hoping that the inquiry will reveal the truth. We were unaware that such an event was occurring. We reacted as soon as we learned about it. He was removed from his ministerial position by Mamata Banerjee “stated he.

Suvendu Adhikari claimed that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee approved of the cash fraud. Still, Mr Roy called the BJP leader’s claim “nonsense” and stated Ms Banerjee was unaware of the sequence of events.

“Suvendu Adhikari spews utter nonsense. Mamata Banerjee was unaware of the current events. Suvendu Adhikari’s efforts to disparage the Chief Minister are condemned. The ED is looking into the situation. If Suvendu Adhikari has any evidence, he should give it to the ED rather than the media “said he.

Partha Chatterjee, a former minister, claimed he was being set up in a plot after being stripped of his positions in the TMC and his portfolios by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday.

This comes just days after the Enforcement Directorate detained him in connection with an alleged teacher recruitment scam in which the organization allegedly recovered money worth 50 crores.

Chatterjee said, “I’ve been set up; I’m a victim of conspiracy.”

“The positions of general secretary, national vice president, and three additional positions have all been eliminated from the TMC, along with Partha Chatterjee. He has been placed on leave until the inquiry is conducted “said Abhishek Banerjee.

Trinamool Congress, which had been putting distance between itself and its detained leader Partha Chatterjee, removed him from his position as a minister and suspended him from the organization on Thursday, leaving him free to participate in the Enforcement Directorate investigation into the teacher recruitment scam, which has seen millions of rupees seized from properties connected to his aide Arpita Mukherjee.
