Mehbooba Mufti, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader, accused the Vivek Agnihotri-directed film ‘The Kashmir Files’ of ‘triggering’ violence in the union territory on Monday while also asserting that she established a secure atmosphere for Kashmiri Pandits throughout her term.
“We provided a secure environment for Kashmiri pandits. During the climax of the turmoil in 2016, no one was killed. ‘The Kashmir Files’ film has incited violence, “Ms. Mufti said to reporters.

Ms. Mufti went on to say that the BJP-led Central government is “after all our mosques” because of the Gyanvapi controversy.
“They (the Centre) are using Hindu-Muslim tensions to divert attention away from more pressing concerns, and they are now targeting the Gyanvapi mosque. They’re after our mosques, after all. Our God is present everywhere we worship; please provide us with a list of all mosques you are considering, “Added the previous Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir.
Meanwhile, the Hindu petitioner in the case, Sohan Lal Arya, claimed that the committee discovered a Shivling in the Kashi Vishwanath Temple-Gyanvapi Mosque complex in Varanasi as the third day of the court-ordered videography survey ended on Monday.
This comes only a day before the Supreme Court hears a motion to halt the survey of the Gyanvapi Mosque complex. Tomorrow, May 17, a bench led by Justice DY Chandrachud will listen to the Anjuman Intezamia Masajid Committee’s petition. The three-day survey, on the other hand, has been finished.
Farooq Abdullah had asked for a ban on ‘The Kashmir Files earlier in the day,’ claiming that it had generated a climate of “hate in the nation.”
He also branded the film “baseless,” claiming that the events shown in it were all made up.
The comments came a day after leaders of the People’s Alliance for the Gupkar Declaration, including Abdullah and PDP head Mehbooba Mufti, met with LG Manoj Sinha to address the recent acts of unrest in the Valley triggered by the assassination of Rahul Bhat.
On Thursday, the assassination of Rahul Bhat, a Kashmiri Pandit and government employee, sparked street protests in which deployed teargas dispersed the crowd. The J-K administration formed an SIT to investigate the murder after the march.
