Michelle and Barack Obama go back to the White House: Barack Obama, a former US president, and Michelle Obama, a former First Lady, revisited the White House on Wednesday to reveal their official portraits.
After nearly five years after Barack Obama left office, they will welcome back at the White House by US President Joe Biden, who served as his vice president.
During the administration of their successor, a former president customarily invited back to the White House to present the portraits.
However, the Obamas skipped their wedding ceremony when Donald Trump was president.
During his first term, Barack Obama welcomed Laura and George W. Bush for the presentation of their portraits in 2012.
The tight bond between the Obama and Biden families claim to have developed throughout Obama’s administration.
The presentation of the portraits, which “shall stand on the walls of the White House forever as reminders of the force of hope and change,” was a privilege for the current president and first lady, according to Biden’s press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.
