A 22-year-old man has been booked for an attempted rape over the complaint of a 16-year-old girl, who regained consciousness on Monday almost ten days after she was allegedly pushed from the second floor of a building here in Madhya. Pradesh for the accused, police said.
The girl, who fell unconscious after landing on the ground, recounted her ordeal after regaining consciousness in a hospital, after which a case was filed against the accused.
No arrests have been made so far, an official said.
The teenager is a neighbor of the defendant who lives on the second floor of the building in Gwalior, said Vijay Singh Badhoria, deputy superintendent of police for the criminal branch.
According to the complaint, the defendant dragged the girl into a room and tried to impose himself on her, he said.
“When the girl resisted, the defendant beat her and threw her off the balcony. The girl passed out after landing on the ground. Some people saw her unconscious and informed her family members. Then the girl was rushed to a hospital, “added Badhorial.
The girl recounted her ordeal to members of her family on Monday, who in turn approached police, the DSP said.
The defendant has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO) and under the provisions of the Programmed Castes and Tribes (Atrocity Prevention) Act of 1989, Badhoria said.
The defendant is on the run, he added.
