Multiple Explosions were heard in Kyiv, Ukraine. 

KYIV, Ukraine: Ukrainian forces destroyed an enemy aircraft flying over Kyiv during the wee hours on Friday morning. 

It struck a house and ignited it, according to Anton Herashchenko, an adviser to the minister of interior.

It is unclear if the plane was piloted or could have been an unmanned missile. Kyiv municipal officials said that eight people were hurt after the plane hit the building housing apartments.

The Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said Kyiv had received a missile strike.

“Horrific Russian rocket strikes on Kyiv,” he wrote on Twitter. “Last time Similar circumstances hit Kyiv was 1941 when Nazi Germany attacked Kyiv.”

An explosion was seen in Kyiv earlier. Herashchenko believed it to be the sound of air defenses firing on the aircraft. According to a media witness claimed, additional blasts were heard at dawn.

On Thursday, Russia began a massive assault on Ukraine, and Kyiv has confirmed dozens of deaths and many wounded. 

Authorities claimed that intense fighting was taking place early on Friday at the city in Sumy in the northeast region of the country as a border point in the southeast Zaporizhzhya region was struck by missiles, leading to injuries and deaths among border guards.
