A large fire ravaged a building in Mundka outside Delhi, killing at least 27 people and causing many more to leap from windows or use ropes to slide down to safety.

According to authorities, a large fire broke out at the four-story commercial building in Mundka, killing 27 people and injuring 12.

The fire began on the first level and spread to the other stories, according to authorities. People could be heard pleading for assistance in social media footage.

In contrast, others were leaping from the building in a frantic bid to escape the flames.

On film, people used ropes to flee the structure from which dense black smoke was billowing out. Locals were also spotted assisting them on their journey to safety.

Several survivors also utilized a tiny opening in the structure to crawl down. According to the police, several persons were hurt while attempting to flee and were taken to the hospital.

The fire service used cranes to rescue individuals who were trapped. At the same time, police officers shattered the windows of the building to assist the victims.

The flame was brought under control after a six-hour firefighting effort. The rescue effort included police, fire department, and NDRF troops. The fire department is now carrying out cooling operations.

Mundka is located near the Delhi-Haryana state line. With the arrival of trucks late at night, traffic snarls began in the neighborhood.

Other information, such as the deceased’s gender or age, was not provided by the police.

However, Atul Garg, the Delhi Chief Fire Service Officer, said that no firefighters were hurt during the operation.

On Friday night, grieving families of the fire victims in a commercial building in Mundka, Delhi, flocked to the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in search of their loved ones.

Ajit Tiwari, one of them, stated his sister Monika (21) has been missing since the event.

“She began working at a CCTV camera packaging facility last month and earned her first paycheck on Thursday. We found out about the incident around 5 p.m., but we had no clue it was in her office building. “We began searching for her when she didn’t come home by 7 p.m.,” Tiwari said.

Monika resides in Agar Nagar, Delhi, with her two brothers and sister. She is from the Uttar Pradesh district of Gonda.

Another mother searched for her older daughter, who works at the CCTV camera packing facility.

“For the last three months, my daughter Pooja has been working in the CCTV camera packaging facility. We resided in Mubarakpur and learned about the tragedy at 9 p.m. A slash mark is seen behind her left eye. We’ve searched many hospitals for her. She is the only earner in our four-person household. “Her two younger sisters go to school,” the mother said.

According to fire department authorities, information about the incident was received at about 4.40 p.m., and 24 fire tenders were sent to the scene.

When the fire broke out, Ankit, who works in one of the building’s offices, claimed a motivating session was taking place on the second level.

“I feel fortunate to be alive.” It was also possible that I would have died. We saw the fire while attending a motivational session on the second level of the building.

“We shattered the glass panes and managed to get out,” he said. Another guy said that his aunt had gone missing.
