Muttiah Muralitharan hospitalized in Chennai for Heart treatment

Sri Lankan cricket legend Muttiah Muralitharan, who is part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad support staff on the ongoing IPL, has undergone angioplasty here.

ESPNcricinfo reported that the non-spinner champion “had a stent in place to unblock an artery and will meet with Sunrisers Hyderabad when he is discharged.”

The 49-year-old is the leading wicket catcher in international cricket with 1,347 scalps.

Muralitharan represented Sri Lanka in 133 events, 350 ODI, and 12 T20I. It took a staggering 800 wickets in the longest format, 534 in the ODI and 13 in the T20. It was also part of Sri Lanka’s ODI World Cup win in 1996.

He has been a bowling coach and mentors to Sunrisers Hyderabad since 2015. His team has suffered three losses in a row this season.
