Mysterious Explosions Hits Several Places in The Region of Moldova.

Transnistria, a pro-Kremlin breakaway area of Moldova that hosts Russian forces, has experienced a series of strange explosions, raising fears that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine will spread to other countries.

Moldova is in the midst of a “very hazardous new period,” according to Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, who warned of unknown forces seeking to inflame tensions in the Transnistria strip land bordering Ukraine.

Transnistria declared independence from Moldova in 1990 and operated de facto independently of Chisinau, Moldova’s capital, though it is not recognized internationally.

The attacks came just days after a Russian military general hinted that Moscow may be looking for a way into Moldova as part of its “second stage” military effort.

“Control over the south of Ukraine is another route out to Transnistria, where there are also realities of oppression of the Russian-speaking population,” Rustam Minnekaev, acting head of Russia’s Central Military District, stated, in what is Russia’s most direct threat to Moldova to yet.

Russian President Vladimir Putin used the purported prejudice against Russian speakers in Ukraine as a pretext for launching a savage attack on Ukrainian cities in late February.

Transnistrian authorities said this week that explosives targeted the state security ministry headquarters in Tiraspol, the breakaway territory’s major city; a military unit in Parcani hamlet; and two radio towers that rebroadcast Russian news.

Local media reported on Wednesday that a shooting incident occurred near Russian weaponry and ammunition dumps on the outskirts of Covasna village.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack, and no casualties were reported. Transnistrian officials, on the other hand, pointed the finger at Ukraine.

Transnistrian Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev told Russian news agency Interfax, “We established a specific emergency mode: a red terror alert.” “Preliminary research indicates that the trails of those who orchestrated the attacks led to Ukraine.”

President Maia Sandu blamed the attacks on “pro-war groups” and infighting inside the breakaway territory’s administration, saying they were an attempt to increase tensions.

“We reject any challenges or attempts to entice the Republic of Moldova into acts that endanger the country’s peace,” Sandu stated. “Chisinau remains committed to a peaceful solution to the Transnistrian issue.”
