Narendra Modi UNGA speech LIVE Updates: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the United Nations General Assembly shortly, where he is likely to call for an “effective response to international terrorism” and “inclusive and responsible solutions for international peace and security.”
According to the sources, “inclusive and responsible solutions for international peace and security” are aimed at China, while “effective response to international terrorism” is aimed at Pakistan. Prime Minister Modi will explain India’s priorities as he takes office as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council from January 2021 for a period of two years.
The Prime Minister is also likely to include among India’s priorities “STANDARDS (New Orientation for a Reformed Multilateral System)” and “Technology for All and Rationalization of Peacekeeping”. Given that India will be a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for two years, Modi is likely to present India’s 5-S approach to follow: Samman (respect), Samvad (dialogue), Sahyog (cooperation) , Shanti (peace), and Samriddhi (prosperity).
Since this year’s UNGA is taking place in the context of the pandemic, it is conducted primarily through virtual mode. The Prime Minister’s speech will be a pre-recorded video statement, broadcast in the UNGA room in New York.
