The newly installed LED floodlights at the renovated Sardar Patel stadium in Motera will eliminate shadows, making it easier to detect aerial balls during the upcoming day / night test between India and England, starting February 24.
The world’s largest cricket stadium will also have 11 center courts, which is also unique, along with four never-before-heard changing rooms with built-in gymnasium, said Gujarat Cricket Association Deputy Secretary Anil Patel.
The Motera Stadium had undergone an extensive renovation that began when current BCCI secretary Jay Shah was in charge of the state cricket unit.
With a capacity of 1,10,000 seats, which is more than the Melbourne Cricket Ground, the GCA will put on sale around 55,000 tickets for the next two test matches at the venue.

Recently, the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy playoffs were held at the Motera.
“This is the only stadium in the world with 11 central fields on the main ground. We are also the only stadium in the world with the same floor that is used for practice, as well as the center strips, ”said Patel, GCA Deputy Secretary.
“Instead of mast lights, we have installed LED lights throughout the circular roof to improve visibility and eliminate shadows,” he said.
Patel also said the state-of-the-art drainage system will help the soil dry out quickly in the event of a heavy downpour.
“Sand has been used under the grass. This, along with a state-of-the-art drainage system, will remove rainwater very quickly compared to other regular soils.
“Even in the case of 8 cm of rain during a match, the water would run off very quickly. This will reduce the chances of games being canceled due to rain, ”Patel said.
He added that Rs 2 million worth of equipment was purchased just for soil maintenance.

The stadium, spread over an area of 63 acres, also has 6 covered pitches with bowling machines. This is in addition to outdoor driving ranges and two driving ranges with a small pavilion area, Patel said.
“This is the only stadium in the world with four changing rooms for the players. Each locker room has a state-of-the-art gym, among other amenities. The stadium also has a clubhouse with 50 deluxe rooms and five suites, ”Patel said during the stadium press tour.
