Olympic Champion Chloe Kim Takes Break for Mental Health Issue.

After a “draining” year, double Olympic snowboarding champion Chloe Kim announced she would sit out the 2022-23 season to focus on her mental health.

She became the youngest woman to win Olympic gold in snowboarding when she won the halfpipe at the 2018 Winter Olympics as a 17-year-old. She defended her title in Beijing earlier this year.

When asked why she decided, Kim told Cheddar News in the United States, “Just for my mental health.”

“I simply want to reset; I don’t want to go back into it after such a fantastic but draining year, especially because it was an Olympic year.”

“I just want to savor this moment, soak it all in, and then get back to it when I’m ready, but the plan is to go for a third medal right now.”

After the 2018 Games, the 22-year-old took a whole season off to focus on her education and mental wellness.
