New COVID Variant

New COVID Variant:

The doctor Fauci stated that the Omicron could be described as “clearly high transmissible” and likely transmit greater than Delta.

The top US specialist in infectious diseases, Doctor Anthony Fauci, said on Tuesday that the new strain of SARS-CoV-2, which has once again closed the borders of several countries, is not any more dangerous than the variants that have been previously identified that included Delta.

In an interview with AFP, Fauci said that getting a complete understanding of the latest variant may take some time. But, certain areas are now quite apparent.

Here are the words of Fauci:

Transmission: Fauci said that Omicron had been identified as “clearly high transmissible” and likely higher than Delta.

Immune evasion Do you think Omicron is more effective in evading immunity from previous infections or vaccines? According to Fauci, it is. Evidence comes from epidemiological studies all over the world, according to him. The results of lab tests that examined the efficacy of the existing vaccines to fight Omicron are expected within the next few days or weeks, the doctor Fauci declared.

Regarding the severity of his remarks, he stated that Omicron is not more serious than Delta.

Pfizer Shot provides less protection against Omicron as compared to other strains. A study from the beginning.

“There are some indications that it could be less severe if you examine some of the cohorts being monitored by researchers in South Africa, the ratio between the number of infections and amount of hospitalizations is believed to be lower than in Delta,” he said.

A more transmissible virus that does not cause more severe illness and doesn’t cause an increase in hospitalizations or death is considered to be what’s known as the “best-case scenario”; however, the direst scenario is if the most transmissible strain also causes serious illness.

“I do not believe that the worst-case scenario will be the case, but you may never know,” Fauci said.

First discovered in South Africa, the variant has been found across at most 38 nations, and the efficacy of the current vaccines is being scrutinized for this variant.

The variant has not been associated with deaths. The variant contains more than 50 mutations, and it does not cause typical symptoms such as loss of smell or taste or breathing problems, etc.
