On Hathras incident, CM Adityanath tries to put SP in dock
Facing the opposition’s attack on the law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday invoked the recent assassination in Hathras to attack the Samajwadi Party.
Referring to the red caps worn by members of the SP, he said in the Assembly: “The incident in Hathras has put the cap back on a pier … Is there no link between the Samajwadi Party and the unfortunate incident yesterday? in Hathras? … Why is the word Samajwadi associated with every criminal … I just want to ask this … ”.
The Chief Minister was referring to the murder of a 50-year-old man in Hathras on Monday, allegedly by a man accused of sexually abusing his daughter two years ago. Since the incident came to light, the BJP has been alleging that the main defendant has ties to SP. SP, however, has denied the claim.
Following the Chief Minister’s comment, the opposition leader in the Assembly and SP leader Ram Govind Chaudhary claimed that he had photos of the accused with a BJP MP. At this, the Chief Minister asked if the defendants had put up posters for the Samajwadi Party.
Two more arrested in murder case
New Delhi: Two more defendants were arrested Wednesday in connection with the murder of a 50-year-old man, who had filed a police complaint about the alleged sexual abuse of his daughter in Hathras district, police said.
“Teams were formed to track down the six defendants. One defendant, Lalit, had already been arrested. Two other defendants were located. Both have been arrested and sent to judicial custody. We are trying to find out the details of other defendants of those arrested, ”said SP Vineet Jaiswal. –ENS
