Pakistan govt meets today on reviving trade with India
In what could be a first major step by Islamabad in trying to reestablish relations with New Delhi, the Pakistani government will consider resuming trade ties with India on Wednesday, sources told The Indian Express on Tuesday.
Pakistan’s cabinet committee on economic affairs, the sources said, will decide on the import of sugar and cotton from India. The committee meeting is scheduled for 11:30 am Pakistani time.
Pakistan severed ties with India following the repeal of Article 370 in August 2019 at J&K and the division of the state into two new Union Territories.
Meanwhile, Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, responding to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s letter wishing him Pakistan’s National Day, said that his country wants peace with its neighbors, including India, so All pending issues between the two nations, including the dispute over J&K, need to be resolved.

The exchange of letters comes amid a renewed push for peace between the two countries.
