Parents worry about dwindling baby formula supply

Parents worry about dwindling baby formula supply.

Taylor Miller will not waste a single drop of infant formula. However, the Texas woman has to ration formula due to bare shelves around the nation, with some businesses banning infant formula sales to avoid stockpiling.

Miller told CBS News, “I never thought I’d be a rationing formula.”

Miller now feeds Magnolia, her 4-month-old baby, two ounces every two hours instead of four ounces every four hours to avoid having to throw away leftovers.

“We’ll actually burn a tank of petrol in a day looking for formula and just locate one can,” Miller said.

MORE: Republican Congressman Tom Reed of New York resigns from Congress.

Miller has been searching for a formula for weeks and is down to his last two weeks’ supply.

According to Datasembly, the national rate of baby formula out-of-stock continues to rise.

For example, the out-of-stock rate was 11% in November, but it had risen to 31% by early April. It has subsequently been raised to 40%.

A February recall exacerbated the scarcity of Abbott Laboratories.

Still, experts believe supply chain concerns and inflation were factors long before.

ON TUESDAY, the FDA said that it strives to expand imports and streamline the clearance process to enhance supplies.

Miller and her sister, who also has an infant, have become more desperate and have sought assistance from others.

“In Louisiana, there is family. I had some Georgia and Tennessee pals look. In Delaware, we have relatives. Nobody has discovered anything, literally from coast to coast, “Miller said.

Doctors are also concerned about the shortage.
