Patriots vs. Falcons final score, results: Jones and defense dominate in Atlanta
The Patriots defense recorded the 13th shutout of coach Bill Belichick’s stay in New England, intercepting Matt Ryan and his two backups in a 25-0 win over the Falcons on Thursday night in Atlanta.
Ryan was benched for the final two minutes of the game, with backup Josh Rosen taking over. Rosen threw a six-pick at linebacker Kyle Van Noy to further seal the Falcons’ fate. Feleipe Franks replaced Rosen on the Falcons’ next possession and threw an interception of his own.
Van Noy dominated the Falcons with two sacks to go with the pick-six. The New England defense held Atlanta’s offense to 165 total yards and 3.2 yards per play.
The Pats are now tied with the Ravens for the most shutouts since 2000.
On the other side of the ball, Patriots rookie quarterback Mac Jones completed 22 of 26 for 207 yards and a touchdown. He was also intercepted once and captured three times. Rhamondre Stevenson led New England with 69 rushing yards on 12 carries. Nelson Agholor had five receptions, a team-high, including Jones’ touchdown pass.
The Patriots (7-4), who are battling the Bills for first place in the AFC East, will return to Gillette Stadium on November 29 to face the Titans. The Falcons (4-6), who are sitting at the bottom of NFC South, will face the Jaguars in Jacksonville that same day.
