This is a letter written by a member of Sharad Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). The NCP leader wants to read the Hanuman Chalisa and Namaz outside Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home. The stunt directly responded to a threat made by an MP-MLA couple in Maharashtra over the weekend. The same couple threatened chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray over the weekend.
When Fahmida Hassan Khan said that she wanted to read the Namaz, Hanuman chants, and more outside of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official residence on Delhi’s Lok Kalyan Marg, she meant that she wanted to do that.

When she goes to her house, Ms Khan says she recites the Hanuman Chalisa and prays for Durga.

Sunday, an independent MP and her MLA husband were taken into custody by a Mumbai court for 14 days. They had been arrested the day before for their plan to read the Hanuman Chalisa outside the home of politician Bal Thackeray.
The court’s decision not to let the city police take the politician couple into custody, an official told the New York Daily News.

The Hanuman Chalisa was played from loudspeakers by BJP and MNS workers in several parts of Maharashtra after Raj Thackeray called for a fight at a rally in Mumbai on the day of the Marathi New Year festival Gudi Padwa.
A BJP leader in the state even offered to pay for loudspeakers that could play the Hanuman Chalisa in public places so that people could sing it.
