Prime Minister Narendra Modi will host the inaugural
India-Central Asia Summit on Thursday that will take relations
towards “newer heights”.
Virtually, the event is expected to include the participation of
presidents from Kazakhstan and Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
The summit symbolizes the importance attached by leaders from both sides to a broad and lasting partnership between India and Central Asia.
Beyond region-wide security and the Afghanistan question, the main concern will be connectivity and trade, the development partnership, culture, and people-to-people connections.
In a previous statement, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) declared that this was the first interaction of its nature in the region between India and Central Asia.Central Asian countries at the leadership level.
“The first India-Central Asian Summit is an indication of India’s increasing involvement with Central Asian countries, which are composed of the country’s “Extended Neighbourhood,” MEA said.
PM Modi paid a landmark visit to every Central Asian country in 2015. There were high-level exchanges in multilateral and bilateral meetings in the following years.
The launch of the India-Central Asian Dialog at the Foreign Ministers’ level, with the 3rd meeting, scheduled at New Delhi from December 18-20, 2021, has brought the impetus for India-Central Asian relations.
The participation of Secretaries of National Security Councils of Central Asian countries in the Regional Security Dialogue on Afghanistan, which was held at New Delhi on November 10 2021, presented the common regional approach to Afghanistan.
