Premier PM Narendra Modi will virtually address the ‘Matua Dharma Mahamela 2022 organized by Shreedham Thakurnagar of the West Bengal region’s Thakurbari to mark the 211th anniversary of the birth of Shree Shree Harichand Thakur on Tuesday.
Matua Dharma Maha Mela 2022 will be hosted through All India Matua Mahasangha on Tuesday. The celebration will end on the 5th of April.

“I am honored to be addressing the Matua Dharma Maha Mela 2022 at 4:30 PM tomorrow, 29th March. We shall also mark the Jayanti of the great Sri Harichand Thakur Ji, who devoted his entire life to social justice and public welfare,” PM Modi had tweeted on Monday.
Harichand Thakur devoted his life to the cause of improving the lives of the oppressed, disadvantaged, and poor people of unincorporated Bengal in the pre-independence period.
He founded the religion and social justice movement that he initiated in Orakandi (now located in Bangladesh) in 1860. It resulted in the creation of the Matua Dharma, said a statement issued from the Prime Minister’s Office.
