PM Modi's Public Rally In Tripura

The principal political opposition in Tripura is blaming prime minister Narendra Modi and his

massive rally in Agartala in March for the unprecedented increase of Covid instances in

Tripura’s capital city.

The positive rate in Agartala is close to 30 percent, while the overall positive momentum

for the state is 13.3%.

On Sunday, a statement from the Marxist Communist Party of Indian (CPI-M)-led Left Front

declared, “The central and state governments are aware of omicron, the new variant of

Covid-19 creating havoc across the country.

In this situation, the PM’s public rally has further aggravated the situation in Tripura”.

PM Modi held an event in Agartala on the 4th of January, following which he launched the

new terminal that is integrated at the Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport in Tripura.

A large crowd was gathered during the event to watch Modi.

The next day, the Trinamool Congress had also claimed that Prime Minister Modi for

“pushing thousands of lives into danger” and “turning Tripura into a Covid manufacturing

hub” by his rallies.

Chief Secretary for CPI-M Tripura, Jitendra Choudhury, stated that Coronavirus has

exploded following Modi’s rally across the state.

More than 1,070 new positive cases were discovered within Tripura on Sunday. Three

victims died from the disease.

A curfew for nighttime is being enforced to limit the recent increase within the state.

On Sunday, Mr. Chaudhury, with CPI chief Ranjit Majumder Forward Bloc leader Dulal Deb

and Revolutionary Socialist Party leader Dipak Deb, met Tripura the Chief Minister Biplab

Kumar Deb.

They suggested several measures to stop the spread of.

However, the Left leaders have stated that the Tripura government hasn’t yet put in devices

to analyze genome sequences of Omicron-related samples.

A lapse in this process could create a more complex situation.

Mr. Chaudhury, a CPI-M Central Committee member, stated that hundreds of people are

traveling to Tripura by train from all areas of the country, including Delhi, and depart at

different stations where there is no testing facility.

Additionally, the Tripura Governor has advised citizens to follow COVID-19 guidelines and

remain in self-isolation in the event of any of the symptoms.

“This is, indeed, true that the positivity rate in the Agartala Municipal Corporation area has

taken an alarming turn.

Yesterday, the positivity rate of the AMC areas was 28.23 percent which is much higher

than usual,” Mr. Deb declared on Sunday.

He said that the state government does not have any plans to enforce curfews during the

evening hours.
