Police are searching for the missing corrections official in Alabama. 

An inmate and the assistant director of corrections went missing earlier, prompting an alarm from an Alabama sheriff’s office on Friday night. 

The inmate, who was being held on capital murder charges, should be regarded as “armed and extremely dangerous,” according to authorities.

According to Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton, Vicki White, a 25-year member of the department, departed the local jail center with Casey Cole White at 9:41 a.m.

He said that she informed other officials she would drop him off at the courts for a mental health evaluation and then seek medical help because she wasn’t feeling well. 

Even though they share the same last name, the two are unrelated.

Someone discovered her patrol car in a shopping center parking lot shortly after 11 a.m. 

Officials found that no one had been able to contact her and that she had not been returned to jail at 3:30 p.m.

After communicating with the court, Singleton stated that officials confirmed that no mental health evaluation had been arranged. 

He further stated that her decision to take the convict to court alone was “a clear violation of policy,” Someone charged with such a severe offense should be escorted by two deputies. 

He believes that because Vicki was in control of courthouse transportation, none of her employees felt comfortable questioning her about the policy violation.

“I can tell you that every employee in this office is stunned that she’s absent and that this has happened,” Singleton added. “We’re absolutely stunned; she’s been an outstanding employee.”

Singleton stated that despite the questionable circumstances, he would need irrefutable proof before accusing Vicki White of any misconduct. 

White, he claimed, had been named employee of the year on several occasions and was well-liked and respected. 

He also mentioned that she was eligible for retirement and had been talking about leaving the department for months.

He explained, “Obviously, we’re looking at all angles.” “Was she a part of his escape? Obviously, this is a possibility. As a result, we’re looking into it as one of the investigation’s angles. Was she abducted on the way to the courthouse? Taken against her will, you know? That is, without a doubt, another perspective we are considering.”

According to Singleton, Vicki was equipped with a 9mm gun before she vanished, leading authorities to believe Casey is now armed. 

He described Casey as “very dangerous” and advised locals to phone 911 instead of approaching him.
