Police chief: 3 shot in fight in North Carolina mall.
DURHAM, North Carolina (AP) – A police chief said three people were injured Friday by gunshots during an apparent fight between two groups in a North Carolina mall packed with shoppers the day after Thanksgiving.
Authorities said late in the afternoon that one person was detained and that there were no further threats to the public. Durham Police Chief Patrice Andrews told reporters the shooting occurred around 3:20 p.m. inside The Streets shopping center in Southpoint during a fight between two groups who knew each other.
He said one of the victims was a 10-year-old boy who was hit by a bullet. He said the boy’s injuries did not appear to be life-threatening. Police did not immediately release further information about the conditions of the other two who were shot.
