Polls to 5 MLC Seats in Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council on 15 March
The call for the biennial elections, as well as the two partial elections, will be issued on February 25, the Electoral Commission said.
New Delhi: The Polls to 5 MLC Seats in Andhra Pradesh legislative council will be held on March 15, the Elections Commission said on Thursday.
The poll panel also announced that one-seat by-elections will also be held on March 15 for each of the legislative councils of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
By-elections were necessary after the death of the incumbent MLCs.
Biennial elections are taking place when four members of Andhra Pradesh’s legislative council retire on March 29.
One of the seats became vacant after the resignation of a member in July last year. The member’s term was due to end on March 29 this year along with four others.
The call for the biennial elections, as well as the two by-elections, will be issued on February 25. According to practice, the counting of votes will take place shortly after the elections conclude on March 15.
