Pramod sawant will swear in as Goa’s Chief Minister for the second term. In the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the three-time MLA, and other dignitaries, the three-time MLA is sworn in as the state’s chief secretary at the swearing-in ceremony.
This ceremony will be held on Monday, March 28, 2022. It will occur at Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee stadium in Taleigao at 11 a.m.

Amit Shah, Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh are among the guests. JP Nadda, BJP chief, is also on the list and Chief Ministers from the several BJP-ruled States.
Notably, this will be the second time Goa’s chief minister is sworn in without the Raj Bhavan premises. Manohar Parrikar, the chief minister of Goa, had taken the oath at Campal ground in Panaji earlier in 2012 after the BJP became the largest party in the House.
Pramod Sawant is who?
Pramod Sawant (48) is an Ayurveda physician and is a three-time MLA from the Sankhalim assembly constituency, North Goa.
Sawant was elected Speaker of the state Assembly in 2017 when the BJP created government under Manohar Parrikar. After Parrikar’s passing in March 2019, he assumed the role of the chief minister.
Sawant was a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh member. He has been seen taking part in the Sangh’s annual Sanchalan’ even though he is chief minister.
His journey in electoral politics began in 2008 when he was granted a BJP ticket from Sankhalim (then Pale), but he lost against Pratap Gauns, a Congress candidate. In 2012, he won the seat and was reelected from the same seat in 2017.
Sulakshana, his wife, is an active BJP worker. She has held prominent positions in the party’s women wing.
The BJP emerged as the largest party in the recent Goa Assembly elections, winning 20 seats at the state Assembly’s 40 members and reducing Congress to just 11 seats.
The BJP lost one seat to the majority but maintained power in the state, thanks to three independent MLAs and two legislators from the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), who extended their support.
Black face masks and dresses are not allowed.
In preparation for Pramod Sawant’s swearing-in ceremony, security has been increased in the state. Over 2,000 police officers have been deployed to provide security for the event.
“Over 2,000 personnel were deployed. Specialized teams from outside the state have been called in. Drones will use to keep an eye on the skies.
Indian Navy, Indian Coast Gaurd, and Goa Coastal Police will be on the 105 kilometers stretch along Goa’s coast,” Indradev Shukla, Goa Director General of Police (DGP), stated.
Further, the DGP stated that anyone attending the event must not wear a black gown or a black face mask.
