President Kovind undergoes cardiac bypass surgery
President Ram Nath Kovind underwent heart bypass surgery at AIIMS here on Tuesday, a statement released by Rashtrapati Bhavan said.
The surgery was successful and his condition is stable, he said.
“Indian President Shri Ram Nath Kovind underwent heart bypass surgery this morning (March 30, 2021) at AIIMS, New Delhi. The surgery was successful. He is stable and is being closely monitored by a team of experienced doctors, ”the statement said.
The president was transferred to the Indian Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Saturday.
Kovind, 75, had undergone a medical check-up at the Army Hospital (R&R) hereafter chest discomfort on Friday morning.
Union Interior Minister Amit Shah conveyed good wishes and prayers for the speedy recovery of the president.
“Glad to hear about Rashtrapati Shri Ram Nath Kovind Ji’s successful bypass surgery at AIIMS, New Delhi. May each day bring you renewed strength. My good wishes and prayers for his speedy recovery, ”he tweeted.
