On March 8, 2022, President Ram Nath Kovind will give the Nari Shakti Puraskars to 29 people who did well in 2020 and 2021.

They will be given to 29 women for their work.

The Nari Shakti Puraskar is an initiative of the Women and Child Development Ministry to acknowledge the exceptional contribution made by individuals and institutions and to celebrate women as game-changers and catalysts of positive change in society.

Recipients come from entrepreneurship, agriculture and innovation; social work; education and literature; linguistics; arts and crafts; STEM (science, technology, engineering and math); disability rights; the merchant navy; wildlife conservation; and a wide range of other fields.

Also, on Monday, President Ram Nath Kovind said that girls should be empowered to be self-sufficient, which will help them achieve their dreams.

“When the world is constantly changing, Indian women are making a big difference in their personal and social lives, as well as in the national arena.”

“They also play an important role in the growth of our country. Girls should be empowered so that they can be on their own. It would enable them to achieve their aspirations even while fulfilling their responsibilities vis-a-vis their family, society and nation,” he said.

This day is also an occasion to reiterate our resolve to ensure women’s safety, dignity, and prosperity; the president was quoted as having said this in a statement issued by the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

“We must give our sisters and daughters the chance to realise their full potential and, as a result, help build our country,” said Kovind.
