Probe into Ambani security scare: NIA seizes Innova car
The National Investigation Agency (NIA), which is investigating the recovery of a vehicle loaded with explosives From outside the Mukesh Ambani industrialist residence in Mumbai, he seized a white Innova car on Sunday, a police officer said.
It is unclear if it was the same Innova who was following the explosive-laden Scorpio before the latter was
parked near Ambani’s residence in South Mumbai on February 25.
According to the police officer, the Innova, with Tardeo RTO registration number ‘MH 01 ZA 403’ and ‘Police’ written on its rear windshield, was brought to the NIA office on Pedder Road here with the help of a tow truck hours after the arrest of Mumbai Police Officer Sachin Waze in connection with the case.
The NIA arrested Waze Saturday night after questioning him for 12 hours about the recovery of the explosives-laden Scorpio near Ambani’s residence.
The Scorpio that was found parked near Ambani’s home on Carmichael Road on February 25 contained some jelly sticks and a threatening letter.
Waze, a “meeting specialist”, also faces trouble in the murder case of Thane-based businessman Mansukh Hiran, who was in possession of this Scorpio. Hiran was found dead in a stream in Thane District on March 5.
The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) is investigating Hiran’s murder case. He had registered an FIR against unidentified persons days after Hiran’s body was found.
Waze, accused by Hiran’s wife of being involved in her husband’s suspicious death, was diverted from the Mumbai criminal branch a few days ago.
