At least 123 workers from a company were arrested on Tuesday after they set fire to a bus and damaged other vehicles during a protest in Manesar, police said. They were protesting the sacking of some of their co-workers.
Workers at JNS Instruments Limited, a producer of parts for Maruti, have been protesting for many days against the company’s alleged dismissal of several of their coworkers and seeking their reinstatement.

The authorities put section 144 of the CrPC in place, and protesters were not allowed to get near the company.
On the other hand, protesters allegedly stopped other workers from getting into the company early in the morning, police say.
There were police and a duty magistrate at the spot. They told the protesters not to do anything. They said the action was taken against them because they didn’t leave.
According to police, an FIR was filed against the demonstrators at IMT, Manesar police station under sections 147 (riots), 149 (unlawful assembly), 341 (wrongful imprisonment), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.
A police team came to the spot again and asked the workers to leave the spot again. They said that people ran away when some of their coworkers were taken away by the police.
As soon as they were done gathering outside the company at 7 pm, they broke the bus’s windows and set another on fire. The fire brigade was called, which put out the fires. 123 people, including 70 women, were caught by police after this, the people said.
“123 people were arrested. We let them go on police bail with a warning, and then let them go home “said inspector Subhash Kumar, the Station House Officer of IMT, the police station in Manesar.
