Compensation of Farmers

Compensation of Farmers:

Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday demanded in Lok Sabha that the next of family members of farmers who died in the struggle against the farm laws receive compensation, as promised from prime minister Narendra Modi.

Given the Zero Hour mention, Gandhi also criticized the Modi government for failing to keep track of the deaths of farmers in the year-long protests and put in the House the names of the farmers in Punjab and Haryana who perished during the agitation.

He claimed that 700 farmers had died during the demonstration. However, Gandhi stated that the Agriculture Minister, in answer to a question on the 30th of November, had informed in the Lok Sabha that it did not have any information regarding the deaths of farmers during the agitation.

He added that the Punjab government had offered the amount of Rs 5 lakh to the 400 next of kin of farmers who died, and 152 were offered government jobs.

Gandhi stated that he also had the 70 Haryana farmers Haryana who lost their lives in farmers’ protests against the three laws governing agriculture.

Congress members demanded government statements on the matter and organized protests along with the NCP and DMK members, who were chanting slogans at the government.
