Union Minister Giriraj Singh invited Rahul Gandhi to visit his ministry to check out new projects for the fisheries sector.
Congressional leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday demanded a separate ministry to address complaints from the fishing industry. When interacting with the fishing community during his visit to Puducherry, the former president of Congress tried to compare farmers with fishermen and said the government should have a separate department to investigate the community-related issue.
“The government passed 3 bills against farmers, the backbone of a nation. You must wonder why I speak of farmers in a fishermen’s meeting. I consider them farmers of the sea. If farmers of the land can have a ministry in Delhi Why? Sea farmers do not have the same, “said Rahul Gandhi.
Union Minister Giriraj Singh responds
Shortly after Rahul Gandhi’s statement, Giriraj Singh, Minister of Fisheries, Livestock and Dairy, jumped into action criticizing the Wayanad MP for his comment. Giriraj Singh decided to reply in Italian while attacking the leader of Congress.
“Dear Raúl (@RahulGandhi) There is no separate Ministry of Fisheries in Italy. It is under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry,” the Union minister said in his Italian tweet.
Giriraj Singh also “invited” Rahul Gandhi to visit the Ministry of Fisheries to get an idea of all the projects managed by the ministry under his charge.
Union Minister Smriti Irani also joined Giriraj Singh in cornering Rahul Gandhi with a separate tweet in Italian.
“Dear @girirajsinghbjp, you only know one thing. Spreading lies, fear and misinformation,” Irani said.
