According to ESPN, the Las Vegas Raiders plan to release linebacker Cory Littleton as a cost-cutting effort.
According to the article, scheduling Littleton after June 1 will save the team $11.75 million. Las Vegas was estimated to be $17.8 million under the salary ceiling at the start of the day.
Littleton, 28, signed a three-year deal with the Raiders in 2020. He has played two seasons under that contract, but his salary-cap hit for next season was set to rise to $15.8 million.
In 17 games last season, the six-year veteran was third on the team with 98 tackles, a half-sack, and four passes defended (13 starts).
He did not have an interception during his two seasons with the Raiders.

After being signed as an undrafted free agent out of Washington in 2016, Littleton spent his first four seasons with the Los Angeles Rams. In 2018, he became a full-time starter as the Rams made a Super Bowl run before losing to New England, and he led the team in tackles for two seasons in a row from 2018 to 2019.
Littleton, a Pro Bowl selection in 2018, has 495 tackles, nine sacks, six interceptions, and 26 tackles for loss in his career with the Rams and Raiders.
