Shobharani Kushwaha, a Rajasthan MLA, was expelled from the BJP for voting for Congress candidate Pramod Tiwari in the Rajya Sabha elections. Gulab Chand Kataria, the Opposition Leader, said in a statement to ANI, “For cross-voting in favour of Congress nominee Pramod Tiwari in the Rajya Sabha Elections, the BJP suspended Rajasthan MLA Shobharani Kushwaha from the party’s main membership. She has been given seven days to explain her vote against the whip.”
Shobharani Kushwah, a BJP MLA, was expelled from the party’s primary membership. According to BJP state president Satish Poona, the subject has reached the party’s top leadership.
Rajasthan is won by all three Congress candidates: Pramod Tiwari, Mukul Wasnik, and Randeep Surjewala. On the other side, the BJP filed one candidate and backed an independent candidate.

The Rajya Sabha elections were marred on Friday (June 10) to replace 16 empty seats in four states (Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Haryana, and Karnataka) by allegations of horse-trading and worries of cross-voting.
The polls opened at 9 a.m. and closed at 4 p.m. Six Rajya Sabha seats in Maharashtra, two in Haryana, and five each in Karnataka and Rajasthan were up for election.
