Remakes of Front Mission 1 and 2

Remakes of Front Mission 1 and 2:  Today’s Nintendo Direct, several announcements regarding new games came out. The developer Square Enix released information about two games in the Front Mission franchise, released for Nintendo Switch.

The Front Mission franchise was first released for PlayStation and Super Famicom in 1995. The franchise has grown to include a variety of forms. Such as novels, manga games, toys, and manga. 

Today, the company is announcing that its series will continue with Nintendo Switch with two Front Mission games.

At Nintendo Direct, it revealed that a complete remake of the game’s first installment, Front Mission 1st released, will available via Nintendo’s mixed console Switch in the summer of the year. Another sequel, called Front Mission 2, will also launch on Nintendo Switch later.

 The classic isn’t the only one returning to Switch because Wii Sports returns in Nintendo Switch Sports. This year’s Front Mission announcement is accompanied by a mech-filled video that is sure to get fans exuberant. 

It has some gameplay scenes of 3D battles that are tactical between wanzers. Fans also show various options to customize Mechsuits.

The Front Mission franchise base on the turn-based tactical role-playing genre where players utilize mecha robots known as wanzers to fight against other nations of supranational origin.

But, fans of the franchise have been able to play the mech in competition with each other. As during the game Front Mission: Evolved’s multiplayer combat. 

The remakes, however, are returning to the turn-based model that will work well on the Switch and especially in handheld mode. Front Mission’s games have often received praise for the story-telling features, and this could make players return for more sessions.

The franchise is likely to gain an entirely new audience even though these are remakes of original games. Front Mission 2 was released only in Japan, which means a larger population can play it. 

In addition, many Switch players may not recall the original Front Mission in 1995 and will be able to play this franchise for the first time. 

Switch players looking for the traditional tactical game experience on their console of today are sure to be thrilled to learn the news that Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes was also made available on the Switch.

While there’s not much information regarding the sequel. The announcement of both Front Mission titles may show how Square Enix committe to returning the franchise to Switch. 

This could mean many things since it is known that the Front Mission franchise has seen several genre-changing spin-offs like a real-time strategy game and the third-person shooter dubbed Front Mission Evolved as well as an MMO.

There may be a variety of projects in the pipeline to launch Front Mission on Switch.

Front Mission 1st will launch via Nintendo Switch in Summer 2022.
