Riverside Police and Former SF Police in the Zodiac Case Don’t Believe Poste’s Killer.

The zodiac killer has NOT been identified as The Case Breakers would have you believe, at least according to cops who searched for the guy in the past, but Case Breakers says cops have refused to investigate a possible connection.

Riverside PD tells TMZ … the investigative body that came out Wednesday with its smash hit is probably wrong in its assumption Gary Francis Poste is the elusive serial killer.

PIO of RPD, Ryan Railsback, says Case Breakers cite the 1966 murder of Cheri jo bates and the evidence the group says it obtained from the archive study as the basis for its conclusion.

Railsback says their initial suspicion that the Zodiac was responsible, based on the letters they received at the time, was nothing more than a red herring. Railsback says that if there was any evidence to suggest that Poste was his man … the force would have happily come forward with such information. But they haven’t, because he’s not.

This leads us to Frank Falzon, a former SFPD homicide inspector, who was once an associate of the famous Dave touch – in charge of the Zodiac case in the early days – and who took over the file once Toschi left the picture. He also tells us … he thinks Poste isn’t the guy.

Their rationale: Poste’s name, as far as he can recall, never appeared as a strong possible suspect among the hundreds of names they had on file. It doesn’t sound like anything.

But, here’s the thing … Case Breakers tells TMZ that they contacted the Riverside Police Department and asked them to do a DNA test on the victim’s hair and compare it to Gary Francis Poste’s DNA. , and the Police Department refused. Case Breakers tells TMZ that the Police Department told them that they believed the killer was a local from Riverside County and that they would not consider anyone outside the county. Case Breakers says they were told by the Police Department that they were “100% certain” that the killer was not the Zodiac Killer and that police repeatedly refused to investigate a possible connection.

Falzon points out what he considers to be a great deal of circumstantial evidence that the Case Breakers used to point to Poste as the Zodiac, which, in FF’s opinion, is not enough to draw such a large deduction. In his eyes … identifying the Zodiac would always come down to fingerprints and handwriting, and based on what he saw in the CB analysis, those factors were absent.

The only guy Toschi ever felt was a likely candidate … one Arthur Leigh Allen, who has also passed away, but was never definitively tested as the Zodiac.
