Russia is moving blood supplies to Ukraine which adds to U.S. concern.
Russia’s military construction close to Ukraine has been expanded to include blood supply and other medical supplies that will allow it to treat wounded soldiers.
Three U.S. officials told Reuters to further indicate Russia’s military’s readiness.
Former and current U.S. officials say concrete indicators such as blood supplies are crucial in determining if Moscow is prepared to launch an attack. Unfortunately, Russian President Vladimir Putin decided to do the same.
The announcement of blood supply from U.S. officials, speaking under confidentiality, adds a new piece of context to U.S. warnings that Russia might be in the process of preparing another invasion of Ukraine as it assembles more than 100,000 troops within the borders of Ukraine.
These warnings include the prediction of President Joe Biden that a Russian attack is likely, as well as U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s comments that Russia might launch a new aggression against Ukraine with “concise notice.”
The Pentagon has acknowledged the provision of “medical support” as part of Russia’s building. However, the disclosure of blood supplies provides an amount of detail that experts believe is crucial in deciding the Russian military’s readiness.
“It doesn’t guarantee that there’s going to be another attack, but you would not execute another attack unless you have that in hand,” said Ben Hodges, a retired U.S. lieutenant general now employed by the Center for European Policy Analysis research institute.
The Russian Defence Ministry did not immediately respond to a request for comments.
The White House spokesperson did not immediately respond to any Russian blood supply movement but did note the repeatedly in the public U.S. warnings about Russian military readiness.
The Pentagon has not agreed to talk about intelligence assessment.
Three U.S. officials who spoke about the blood supply declined to specify what time they in the United States detected their movement to groups near Ukraine.
Two of them claimed it was during the past few weeks. However, Russian authorities have consistently denied any plans to attack.
However, Moscow believes it is being threatened by Kyiv’s increasing ties to Kyiv’s growing relations with the West.
Eight years ago, it took Crimea and backed separatist forces who seized large areas of eastern Ukraine.
Russia’s security requirements, presented in December, call for an end to any further NATO expansion, excluding Ukraine from joining and withdrawing NATO’s forces and weapons from the eastern European countries that joined following the Cold War.
Putin stated on Friday that his country’s, the United States, and NATO had not responded to Russia’s most important security needs in their conflict regarding Ukraine. However, Moscow was prepared to continue discussing.
Biden has announced that it is not sending U.S. or allied troops to combat Russia in Ukraine. However, he told Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskiy during a phone conversation on Thursday.
According to the White House, Washington and its allies are prepared to take action if Russia invades Ukraine, which was once a Soviet state.
The United States and its allies have declared that Russia could be hit with severe economic sanctions if Russia attacks Ukraine.
Western nations have already implemented several rounds of economic sanctions ever since Russian troops captured and annexed Ukraine’s Crimea peninsula back in 2014.
These moves have not had a significant effect on Russian policy, however, with Moscow the world’s largest energy provider, believing that the West will not take actions that would be serious enough to cause interference with the export of gas.
